Scaffolding; 55 Ancoats Street, Manchester

Located on a main road, the Ancoats Street building was at risk of imminent collapse and Hardy Services were asked to design a scaffolding structure to restrain the façade and maintain safe passage for pedestrians and vehicles

The scaffold structure was designed to provide the required support to the front façade from inside the building, enabling the internal walls of the building to be used to add integrity to the structure.

To achieve the objectives of the project, a tubular frame was wrapped around the walls through which core drilling was undertaken, ensuring the continuity and strength of the support scaffold. The required restraint and support were fully achieved through additional tie tube and spreader boards secured to needles projected through the window openings.
