To enable the installation of a 15metre high LED screen, Hardy Services were asked to provide a full access scaffold to the external façade of the client’s main building staircase. The width of the screen and space restrictions of the site prevented the use of traditional scaffold ties.

A scheme was developed which involved the erection of an oversized scaffold with the ties installed on the sides of the stairwell, thus providing both the essential structural rigidity needed for an eighteen-metre high scaffold and full access throughout the works as required by the client.

Easy and safe delivery of panel modules to the work face for installation was achieved with the erection of a small gantry within the structure.

A further requirement was for the screen panels to be raised within the space between the scaffold and the building. This was achieved by setting the scaffold away from the building and including an overhead gantry between ladder beams and building roof to which the hoists were attached.

The project was carried out for LED Display Ltd.
